Laying Tiles in a Shower Floor?

My elder neighbour has asked me if i can put down tiles for her in her shower cubicle floor.
She had 1" square mosaic tiles down before and they have now started coming away.

It is a sand and cement base, do i have to lift them up again or can you tile over tiles?
Or if i have to lift them up what should i be doing before putting new ones down?

Any help would be much appreciated.

:o
But first, the most asked question:

Q "Is anything worn under your kilt???"

A "No. Everything is in perfect working order Thank You!!."

do you have the ones that have come loose? if so just repair them.
failing that id be tempted to cut my own 1 inch squares and stick them in.

and finally regrout the whole thing.

i wouldnt try to tile over the top of the old ones.
so i would have to remove the whole lot.

As they have started to come away, water will have traveled under the tiles and made the floor base damp.

Best to take off the old ones, let the floor dry out and retile.
A thankyou is payment enough .

Make sure you use the right adhesive and preparation for the base and tiles too. Mosaics need specific adhesives like say http://www.bal-adhesives.co.uk/bal/bal_products/mosiac_fix.asp
and you may need a primer.

make sure the tiles have good slip resistance esp for old or young too you may wish to consider tanking
