I think it's a bit cheeky that Next insist on credit checking anyone who wants to make an online purchase, even if you just want to pay immediately and not ask for an account. Even further irritated that if you wish to use a Gift Card that someone has bought you online, then you are unable to choose delivery to store  Home delivery isn't always convenient, and at least with store delivery you can potentially return the item if it doesn't fit / suit. I couldn't get the items I wanted in store. It's put me off Next completely, I will use up my Gift Card and be done with them. Have had poor service in store as well so feel very disappointed by them.
What do they achieve by forcing credit checks? I can only imagine it puts potential buyers off? As far as I am aware most people prefer to keep the checks to a minimum.

If you order and it is delivered to your home, you can return it to the store.0

I think the OP meant that waiting around for home delivery wasn't convenient - it wouldn't be for me either because I work all day.
I hadn't realised Next credit check you even if you pay up front for your items .........0 -

They also start sending catalogues and bill you about £4 for them if you make an order online.0

Sorry, I wasn't clear I meant collect it, try it and return at same time if not right size etc.
I am really fed up, and will avoid Next in future. I certainly won't buy someone else a Gift Card from there!!Still looking for the plot...... Anyone seen it???0 -

That's why they credit check you, because by sending you the catalogue they are offering you a credit facility should you choose to purchase from it.
It's the same with those clothes firms who advertise on television - the small print at the bottom of the screen always says that they will credit check you.0 -
Why don't you just buy in store?
If they don't do that particular style they will order it in for you, no credit check required,
It has to be done instore though, presuming they still offer this service, they did a few years ago:hello: Hiya, I'm single mom, avid moneysaver and freecycler, sometimes  but definatly0 -
