Hey all

I am due to graduate in Sept from Newport Uni, but I studied at a franchise in Swansea so have no real knowledge of the town. The graduation is in Caerleon in the morning so I am looking for someone nice to go for lunch afterwards with my family (up to 7 of us).

Can anyone recommend anywhere? We will have the car so can travel out of area.

I want nice but not too expensive (if it was Swansea I'd go to La Parilla or Morgans hotel).

Cheers

I work at Newport Uni in Caerleon so have got pretty good insight into this! I would strongly recommend the Goldcroft - it's about 5-10 minutes walk from the Uni. It is a really nice gastropub with reasonable prices and a nice big garden.

    Thanks Miskate.

Annoyingly I can't find the menu online for the Goldcroft. I'm veggie, and as it's my special occasion I'd like to see what they have in advance!

Have you been to The Bell, the menu there looks nice?

I haven't tried the Bell - if you want somehwere really fancy, i would also recommend the Priory.

Yes I can second the Priory. It's very nice food and atmosphere and they do a decent lunchtime meal. I'd book in advance as I expect it will be popular for graduation :D

Just a curve ball here but what about Junction 27 in Basseleg, off the M4 (at Junction 27, lol!)

    Both very nice

    Also:

    Gemelli's

Hunky Dory's in town is just veggie and vegan - check their opening times though. It's rustic and small but lovely :) Also the Waterloo by the transporter bridge is really nice.
