Overpayments how to pay back?

Hi all after taking 3 1/2months to get my tax credits renewal for last year through we have an overpayment. I knew we would as our income rose a lot last year so since April this year we have been receiving money we shouldn't and also we owe around 1,000 from 2011-2012. We have kept the money in an account to pay back so it's not a problem. My query is how do we pay it back? On our award it says you have to pay this amount immediately but it doesn't tell us how to! We don't qualify for any TC OR WTC now so have to pay it off in one payment. Can't get through on helpline to enquiry re making payment.

Hi. I have the same thing - I got payments for the first two months of this year, even after I sent them copies of our P60s to show we werent entitled to the money. I got the letter about the overpayment and rang them. They said another letter will come out in due course to tell us how to pay the money back, so just to hold onto it for now.Sealed Pot no 2011

You dont need to have received the letter to pay the overpayment back. Call them and they will do it over the phone, they did with ours a few weeks ago.2013 wins: Persil Bunny0

I have tried to call them on numerous occasions since we received it and have Hung on for ages! So how do they take it, can you pay by debit card? X0
