My 21 year old son died in 2004 and I know just how terrible it is to lose your child. Like the poster `something corporate`, it is very raw just now but I wish you strength and wanted to say I am so sorry for your loss.
  • I'm so sorry for you loss, I have a 22 year old son who has struggled all of his life with disabilities and deteriorating health issues. My heart goes out to you.

I hadn't seen your previous posts but didn't want to read and run. I'm so sorry for your loss and my heart goes out to you and your family. I've read back over some previous posts and I've signed your petition; just wish I could do more.

My thoughts are with you... please take care of yourself. No parent should ever have to feel this kind of pain.

I lost my mum to a brain tumour a few months ago and was her primary carer - I can't really describe how huge the gap was after I didn't need to do all the practical stuff anymore.

Looking at photos, remembering the little things and just talking about good times really did help (although some people seemed to try to avoid the subject just in case they upset me...).

The other thing is, don't start to second guess the things you did and didn't do - just know that you did your best and that is the absolute most important thing you could ever have done for your son.

    Take care.

I cannot even begin to imagine how you must be feeling xx
I hope that one day the words from this poem will bring you some comfort. Take good care of yourself xx

You can shed tears that he is gone,
Or you can smile because he lived,

You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back,
Or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left.

Your heart can be empty because you can't see him,
Or you can be full of the love that you shared,

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember him and only that he is gone,
Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on,

You can cry and close your mind; be empty and turn your back,
Or you can do what he would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
