I got an email this morning from Hein Gericke that they entered into administration (July 30th I believe) and they have closing down sales at all their stores. More information is available from their website: http://www.hein-gericke.co.uk/

I've been reading some of the comments on the HG FaceBook page and some people have said that the reductions aren't that great, I've read 10% off helmets and 20% off other items. Still something I guess ;)

Cheers. Got the same email. Surely it can be sold as a going concern? some shops must be doing ok as the one near us is usually busy.

That said, they appear to have had a sale on for the last six months. when things start looking a bit DFS you do worry!

Pay by a debit card with a chargeback scheme or (credit card if over £100).

If your item becomes faulty it'll be difficult to get a refund otherwise.

Along the grape vine, from other biker forums, I've heard they've got 8 weeks to find a buyer and/or clear everything. So don't expect huge discounts until another 6 weeks or so.

Apparently its only the UK entity of HG that's gone under. The parent company and other parts of the company around Europe are OK (for now), so I guess warranties may still be honoured by them. Still could be hassle though.

Yes the UK business is seperate to the German main firm and runs under licence.

That's why I'm sure that some stores must be profitable, the kit is quite good and decent value for what it is. Be interesting to see how it goes.

The issue with waiting is they won't be getting any new stock in so you might get great discounts in a few weeks but it could well be on very odd sizes!
