Tax credits - when should I tell them?

Hi, our eldest has recently done her GCSE exams so this years Tax Credit award mentions our amount reducing. However she will be staying on to do A Levels as she is planning to go to uni. Should I ring them now or do I need to wait until after results day?

Thank you for reading.

have a look on the awards notice to see how many children are included. If they have reduced the number of children then ensure that child benefit are aware she is staying in education.
there are other reasons it could be reducing
was your income higher in 2011/12 than it was in 2010/11?
Tax credits seem to be reducing as a whole with the cutoff points reduced so the reduction may not be due to them excluding your eldest
  • If she is staying on in Non advanced Further ed, then you need to tell both HMRC and child benefit before Sept 1st this year. That is assuming you have not already done that. We had a letter asking us to fill in a form for the child benefit and I renewed CTC over phone. But we still won't get it as we now earned over £26k.
