I used CLICK4QUOTE.COM when arranging to rent out my home.

They offer unoccupied building insurance and then allow you switch immediately on a pro rata basis to LL insurance once the tenants move in with no penalty/admin charges.

Sounds like you took out a specialist policy for unoccupied or renovation.

No. I didn't. I took out standard LL insurance with NLA. Please don't try to tell me what policy I bought!

They cover 90 days of unoccupancy as standard and extend this according to extenuating circumstances, which they have.
You had me at your proper use of "you're".

The post I queried is the following.
Landlord's insurance will give you about 6 months with the property empty, which should be plenty of time for you to find a tenant.

You have in effect stated to the OP and anyone reading it that a Landlords policy will give you six months unoccupied cover. This is not standard practice within the industry. The company you've used is fairly unusual to offer cover for such long periods.

You've also not mentioned the onnerous restrictions in cover Insurers tend to make for unoccupied properties eg FLEE.

The reason for my post is that anyone reading it without reasonable knowledge of Insurance eg the OP etc could take it as gospel that all Insurers offer cover for long periods of unoccupancy as standard which is certainly not the case.

The cover you have with NLA is fairly unusual and your post would have benefited from mentioning that your cover offered six months but to check with the OPs chosen Insurer before committing to purchase.
