We're off to Hafan Y Mor on the 23rd of April (freebie from here too!).
I didn't know there was an Asda near by so that's fantastic, thanks Leemina, saves shopping here and driving with it all!
We've been there in the past, last time was 5 years ago I think. My kids are older now (10 and 9) but they are really looking forward to the break as we areTank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
We've just arrived back today from a 3 night break at Hafan Y Mor. We stopped in a caravan with the linen provided. Definately take some jumpers or little cardigans as even though we had lovely weather, it did get chilly by the front and at night. We didnt need to take heaters though, as the heating in the caravan was brill. There is a asda near by, I presume you're driving, its about five minutes away in a car, if you take a left leaving the site and just keep going till you hit the roundabout you cant miss it, they've got nearly everything you'll need. We took loads of stuff with us, filling up the boot and the knees of everyone, and once we'd found Asda we said that if we went again we would just take little bits, and buy at Asda. Maybe do a search for Asda and Tesco on their sites, and it should show the nearest ones. We really enjoyed this weekend away and would go again, but be warned, the noise level at the kids night entertainment can get pretty noisy, even my kids had earache, lol. Enjoy!
Depends what grade of caravan you've got - we went to Haven in Caister near Gt Yarmouth in June last year and we only had a gas fire in the lounge - no other heaters - it was a miserable week with lots of rain but we were freezing some nights. We're going to Haven in Mablethorpe next week so I'm definitely taking at least 1 heater for the kids room.
Another thing for your list is a scourer/dishcloth/etc whatever you use to wash up with coz nothing is provided...You should never call somebody else a nerd or geek because everybody (even YOU !!!) is an"anorak" about something whether it's trains, computers, football, shoes or celebs:rotfl:

My DD and DH and myself and their five children have been to the Haven camp at Caister-on-Sea for the last three years .We were lucky enough to have been upgraded as when ever we got there we explain that with three adults and five children we need a three-bed van .Once they tried to put us into a two bed one !! We found that the site was O.K.but the site shop very expensive .We usually save out Tesco vouchers all year round for the trip as it saves us some spending money. We always enjoy it but vans can be chilly at night, and the only heating is usually in the lounge.Always take extra towels and tea towels I always take one of those fold flat airers as well as it helps to dry towels out whilst you're out for the day .A slow cooker, and usually we take a cooked chicken with us the first night so we can have chicken and chip or salad when we get there. We have found that depending on the site Haven holidays are fairly good value but we rarely bother paying the extra for the tickets to use the pools ect .Local swimming pools are just as good and a lot cheaper .Look online at local things to do as well and sometime it's cheaper to book early .The kids went crab-fishing last year with some bait donated by the local RNLI lads .I went in and asked them the best place to find some easy crabbing for them, and two brawny fishermen not only told me but found some frozen bait for the kids to use as well and wouldn't take a penny for it either, I bunged some spare cash into their donations tins on the way out .We are going on a cottage holiday this year in Sherringham,Norfolk and I have already booked our tickets for a day out at Pleasurewood Hills with a discount on line.Have a great time and remember its YOUR holiday as well as the families, so let the kids have fun but also let other people help out .WE usually take a portable DVD player with us to plug into the TV for the little ones cartoon DVDs.My DD has three lads under 7 so they get to pick out their favourite ones to take with them. Also board games and a Kite are great things for the kids and cost very little .We usually take a football and a bat and ball. The children love the freedom of a caravan holiday and by bedtiime are usually completely tuckered out (hopefully) As none of the adults smoke we rarely go to the club house as it can get a bit smelly in there, but a pack of cards and a couple of bottles of wine keeps the grown ups happy0

Hi would definetley say to take a frying pan if planning on using one.The one we had everything stuck to no matter how much oil you put in:rolleyes:
Mics chick I would either take plenty of stuff with you or check out where your nearest supermarkets are. We made the mistake of saying we'd buy when we got there and the only place we could see was a coop which cost us a fortune.
Saying that the campsite was good and the kids loved it and want to go again this year.:smileyhea:heart: Mrs Lea Nov 5th '11:smileyhea

We have been to Hafan Y Mor nearly 2 years ago now.
The swimming pool area is great, with a lovely little area dedicated to the under 5's. My 3 year old at the time loved it and it gave him loads more confidence.
We had a silver apartment and it was riffy and smelt of damp. We had the neighbours from hell who were doing karaoke  until 3am in the morning. They looked really rough and chavvy so we daren't go out to challenge them. So 9am the next morning we were at customer services asking to be moved. They upgraded us to Gold for £20 (half the price it should have been) and it was lovely. 2 storey apartments overlooking the sea right at the far side of the site. Beautiful. Shame the beach was stones though and not sand.
I would say take a decent knife and a pair of scissors, as the ones you get in these places wouldn't even cut through butter. Plenty of bin liners (or used carrier bags) too to take out the rubbish daily. Don't forget cleaning equipment to clean the bath and sink down too, and air freshner for the loo (if your dh is anything like mine :rotfl: )
Having since been to Butlins, I would say that beats Haven hands down.
Have a fab time.:hello:0 -
