2 life insurance policies but 1 i didn't know about

So I don't know where we stand, I have just been going through our direct debits and discovered 2 monthly payments (£10 & £20) to aviva for 2 life insurance joint policies on myself and my husband.
I remember taking out the 1st one back into 2001 when we first brought our house but then another 1 was taken out in 2006 (which i didnt know about) when we moved. What is strange is that they were both with the same mortgage provider (Derbyshire bs) so why wouldn't they instruct aviva to amend the 1st policy rather then taking out a 2nd one?
Am I able to claim one of them back? What do you advise?

YOu need to get the docs provided to you at the time of your move in 2006.
To start a new policy you should have been asked questions about your health/height/weight etc perhaps during the whole move thing you forgot about doing this?I am a Financial Adviser specialising in Mortgages, Protection, Health and Medical Insurance.
