Selling Flat - need planning docs as less than 10yrs old

In the process of selling our flat and given lots of docs to our solicitors. They've asked for the planning documentation relating to the original construction of the property as it is less than 10 years old. They need it to give to the buyer.
They suggested going to our solicitors when we bought as they should have given them to us - over 5yrs ago now and one of those shonky ones connected with the EA, not convinced they will get them to us any time soon and worried about how much they might try to charge us...
Does anyone know where we can get them cheaper? The online planning site doesn't seem to have docs earlier than 2010?
Thanks!
Judith

Ring the planning department they will have them archived they may charge a fee to access them but then again maybe not as they are public documents.0

If you go onto your councils website you should be able to search through previous planning documents and print off the ones you need.
We've just bought a house that is 6 years old and the vendors were dragging their feet with getting planning permission so I went onto our councils website and got most of it from there. The only one that wasn't on there was one from when an older part of the estate was built so phoned up my councils planning department and they printed a copy off for me for a fee of £10.0 -
i'd echo what others have said. you may be able to find them on your council's website. if not, they will have a planning file in the council that you can arrange to view and copy what is inside it.0
