Getting to Olympic Park from Paddington
Comments
-
Hi
I'm getting in to Paddington at 7.15 tomorrow to get to Olympic park for morning athletics.
I'm going to head for St Pancras and then catch the Javelin train.
Can anyone advise if this is the best way or would the Javelin be packed/long queues that early?
Went on first morning (approx 8:40 from St Pancras) - there were large queues and the news said waits may be upto an hour. Actual wait was no more than 15 minutes - the trains are very long so take hundreds and take only 7 mins.
Friday & Sat. were supposedly the busiest days.
On return (approx 4pm) there were plenty of games volunteers / TFL staff saying that Stratford would be very busy, the wait may be an hour and that you should go to West Ham (30 mins walk). Ignore the advice - we walked straight onto a train at Stratford.
Definitly get the javelin train.
If you want souvenirs try the shops by the actual venues rather than the megastore (be lucky to get out inside an hour).
No queues for food other than McDonalds which although long go quick enough. You can of course take your own food.
Free water queues a bit long.
All in all a fantastic day out - hope you enjoy it.US housing: it's not a bubble - Moneyweek Dec 12, 20050 -
Another vote here for the Javelin, no queues going at around 4pm, and less than 10 minutes this evening.0
