I wonder if you can help.
What would be the best way to get to the Olympic Park from Paddington?
I will be travelling with two young children so the shortest amount of walking would be great.
Thanks

I'm using the official games travel planner for spectators to plan my Olympic venue journeys -

I used that planner too. I needed accessible options and no buses so there were options to check and uncheck so you might find an option for shortest journey or something like that. I followed advice from this forum in aiming to get to venue 2 hrs before your event time. Personally thought that was over the top but it wasnt and so im glad i bowed to the knowledge of others! I allowed time and a half for the journey but this was for excel so I'd allow double time if it was olympic park and had children as visitor numbers I think are higher. We had to walk from tube to entrance then more walking to security then more walking to the sports hall then more walking t the block of seats and more walking up the steps to your actual seat so the more time you allow the less stress. Im not one to get up early or arrive extra early generally but i made an exception as this was costing hundreds of pounds for a 2 hr event which actually ended up being one and a half hours and consequently i had no stress whatsoever even with a child and people with poor mobility. I took a pack of cards and info about the rules and history of the events in case we got there too early and needed to occupy people.0

Having travelled there yesterday (not from Paddington, although I do use Paddington regularly) I would be inclined to go via the Javelin train from St Pancras. It's fast and comfortable and, yesterday at least, was very quiet.
From Paddington you just trundle round to Kings Cross on the Hammersmith & City Line, then walk over to St Pancras for the seven-minute ride to Stratford.
Your other option is to stay on the H&C all the way to West Ham, but that entails a good walk at the other end. Or you could get the Bakerloo Line to Oxford Circus, then the Central Line to Stratford. That probably involves the least walking, but the Central Line has had its problems over the last couple of days.
The travelcard that came with your Games tickets will cover any of these routes.0 -
I've travelled on the sweaty sauna conditions on the Jubilee Line to get to Stratford and the Olympic Park.:p
I've also travelled on the Javelin from St Pancras. WOW, what a wonderful journey! You sit in a very comfortable seat in an air conditioned carriage.
If you get the chance, travel on the Javelin. You will be impressed.;)10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j :cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. Give blood, save a life. 0 -

Sweaty Sauna of the Jubilee! Lol. That's one of the coolest Tube lines there is! Wait until you experience the Central, Bakerloo or Central line! Now they're a sauna!0 -
Paddington - Liverpool Street on the Circle Line then Greater Anglia from any platform from about 9 upwards stops at Stratford.Estate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0

As if to undermine my advice (and underline the importance of checking for travel updates close to when you travel), apparently there's a big queue for Javelins this morning. It may move fast, of course - they're long trains:

You don't know how easy you've got it ... try the Northern Line's sweaty Bank branch during rush hour!
Oh believe me I know how that feels! Use to work at Old Street. I started getting the bus and walking some of the way home because I hated it so much! Now I have the pleasure of the very quiet Charing Cross branch of the Northern Line.0 -
Hi
I'm getting in to Paddington at 7.15 tomorrow to get to Olympic park for morning athletics.
I'm going to head for St Pancras and then catch the Javelin train.
Can anyone advise if this is the best way or would the Javelin be packed/long queues that early?0
