So I finally pulled my finger out and listed some bits on eBay. All selling pretty well so should make a nice contribution towards an overpayment. I think I'll try for another clear out actually!

£170.96!! Hurray! I opened 2 non paying bidder claims but if they pay I stand to make a few more quid, if not I'm pretty happy. Now I'm slightly torn, do I pay it towards mortgage or ipad fund?! ;-)
  • Such a good feeling isnt it. Selling stuff and decluttering simultaneously.

Also did a big load and still very novice. Have had to put in to non payer claims as well which is quite scary.

    Half each??

So I've made an offer on a new house and it's been accepted! I'm going to leave my diary for a few months until this is all sorted and I've got a new mortgage. I'll really need to apply myself! Byes for a while!
  • Take care Caeler, sure you'll be back soon.

I'm back again. I've moved house! 8 Weeks offer to completion is pretty good going although it was stressful at times. My mortgage is now £169,000 over 25 years. This years financial goal is to max out an ISA (as I had to cash the ones I had in to buy the new house) and pay £5K off my mortgage by 31 December 2013. I've not thought a great deal more about paying off my mortgage and being MF and I won't contemplate small overpayments this year. Just want to get back on my feet, get some savings and get used to the new bills.

It has been a while but I'm back on track despite the larger mortgage! I've started making small overpayments in accordance with my rule 'always over pay whatever the amount' so although I'm only overpaying in the region of £10 each month, I'm slowly increasing it. My savings goal hasn't come together as I decided to do some work to the kitchen and garden so I'll only be able to max out an ISA OR pay make an overpayment of £5K not both. I'm picking the ISA and if I manage to save more than the ISA value by 31 March 2014 then the rest will be an overpayment.

It's been nearly a year since I updated my post. I've paid off roughly £8K on the mortgage so far this year so I took the opportunity to fix the rate too. I'm pleased with the deal I've got. I only managed £91 in over payments this year so must try harder. I've also finally managed to get 3 months salary in savings so now any extra money I have will go on over payments.

Only 23 years and 3 months left to go.............!

So I'm back on the overpayment wagon!

It took me a while to get straight but I've just made a £5K overpayment after nothing in 5 years and I've set up a regular payment now too.

Such a great feeling. Just hope I can keep it up.
