Ideas for cheap UK holiday?

Can anyone suggest a cheap holiday for one adult and two or three children - ideally within 3 hours travel of London (car or train) - available in late August

We'd like to be near the coast and countryside. Camping, log cabins etc appeal to us - somewhere quiet but not totally remote.

Thanks for any ideas!

Hi could you do a house swap with friends or relations. I often stay in my brothers house while he goes away. I live in Hampshire and he lives in Devon. Hope you find somewhere x

Thanks dottygirl! We have done house swaps before but this time my OH and one daughter will be staying at home so our house is not free. I don't mind spending a little and am hoping to find a quiet campsite or caravan park or similar.

  • Nun, das ist eine gute Sache ,ich unterstütze deine Meinung . :T
  • How about camping on the Isle of Wight? The ferry is a bit pricey (but we always do this on tesco clubcard vouchers - so not too bad) but the Isle of Wight itself always feels very reasonable. Lots of campsites if you want to keep the cost down on accomodation and loads of stuff for kids to do!

Thanks expressduck - and as it happens, we have booked a campsite on the IoW. I am really looking forward to it. I don't have any Clubcard vouchers unfortunately though.
