Lease Car: Maintenance costs?

Hi,

Sorry if been asked before but hoping people with more motoring knowledge can help me!

I am looking at getting the new Seat Ibiza on a 2 year lease but do not know if it is worth having the maintenance package too?

Have called both Seat and the lease company but they just told me to 'weigh up the pros & cons'.

I am happy to do this but am wondering what are 'usual' costs to maintain a car (I have only ever had a banga and aside from MOT's it hasnt had much spent on it at all!)

I drive 20k miles per year max and the lease is for 2 years.

I understand a service is £139 followed by £200 in the 2nd year but what other things will/may need doing?

The maintenance package is an extra £70 per month (£840 a year) & is a 'comprehensive package' that includes tyres, bulbs, batteries, cam belts etc but obviously not things due to my own error or damage.

Hoping someone can tell me if it is worth having it? Or if anyone has any experiences?

Thanks in advance

Depends how the car stands upto 20,000 miles a year. Thats a lot for a lease car. I thought the mileages allowed were much less?

If you drive mostly motorway miles and are gentle on the car then it may not need many parts.

If you drive it a bit harder you may get through tyres and brakes etc much quicker.

Lots of stop start and town work? new clutch?

Over 2 years you might need a couple of tyres. Everything else will be basic service or a warranty claim.

Do the sums but at £70/month no chance, at at £40/month I would doubt it
