Argos Help Feel I'm being Fogged off

Hi
I'm hoping someone can steer me in the right direction of what to do here. Apologies for the long post.
I ordered a bed frame from Argos in store on the 23rd June, on the receipt it stated I would be contacted before the 19th July to arrange a delivery.
I was contacted on the 17th July and a date was arranged for the morning of 26th July so I arranged the day off work waiting for the delivery, nothing came so I called Argos and was told that they were sorry and that there is a department that should have called to let me know, obviously this didn't happen.
We then arranged another date, I asked how can they be sure that it wont be the same story and all the agent said was that she could see the slot and is able to book it and apologised again, so I booked another day off work for 1st August only to come home to a voicemail the day before stating there is a delay and to call.
I called them up again and was told that they were sorry and they are having problems with stock and all they can do is arrange another date, they had no explanation as to where the stock went, I'm assuming that if they are able to give me a date in the first place then the stock must be physically there for them to be able to do this.
Being not too happy I booked a third delivery date 3rd August and again took a day off work, but the agent was not able to book this on her system there and then and had to email another department for them to do this and said someone would call me to confirm.
A day later nobody called so I called them again and found out that it has not been booked as there was a technical issue and the next slot is for Thursday 9th August.
I don't know what to do here as I have 0 confidence in them delivering on Thursday.
So far I have taken 2 days holiday and have dismantled and thrown out my own bed expecting it to arrive the original date as Argos usually have been good.
Has anybody else had similar issues with Argos?
Thanks

We ordered beds from Argos online on 1st July and confirmed delivery date as 2nd August when ordering. They rang on Monday to say it would be the 25th August instead. Bit miffed at being given 2 days notice that they can't deliver when we've the kids room completely gutted in preparation
I've emailed a complaint and still waiting on hearing back from them. Thankfully they did contact us before the 'due' date rather than just not show.
I just don't understand why, when we were ordering we were under the impression the stuff was in stock, not needing to be manufactured. And if it did need to be manufactured, why'd they wait 4 weeks to let us know? And need another 4 weeks to manufacture? :mad:Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -
I hate being fogged off, prefer it clear myself.Went shoplifting at the Disneystore today.
Got a huge Buzz out of it.0 -
Errr yeah, I also feel the need to point out the word is 'fob' - being fobbed off, to put off or appease for deceitful reasons.
I am not normally pedantic but in this case it's detracting from the OPs point. It made me giggle.I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

Maybe my fault, but I was using Fogged as a play on Fobbed to illustrate being 'fobbed' off and this causing confusion and not having a clear view (foggy) of what's happening. Glad I made some of you chuckle0

I ordered a table & chairs at a really good price was reduced and I had further discount off as there was code for money off furniture including dining room. Was to be delivered by x date. Heard nothing then on x date they left a message to say was out of stock again delivery by y date. day before Y date again another answer message sorry it out of stock delivery by z date. By this time more than 3 months had passed. They still had it on again at original price and was showing delivery in stock. In my case I was sure they had made a mistake that Hygena table should not have been reduced by so much and they were waiting for me to cancel. Never did and it came eventually. Normally i would have given up but was too good a bargain.
HAd a friend who had same problem with non delivery of a bed. Surely when they tell you delivery by and it is 4 weeks away that they know way before 4 weeks is up they can't deliver.
Normally I have found them to be good have had 2 beds delivered and had good after sales when bed frames were faulty.I have never met a calorie yet I didn't like!!0 -
Did you complain and did you get any response? I'm still waiting to hear from them since I emailed on Monday. So much for their 'reponse in 48 hours' target. Meanwhile our kids are without beds or cupboards :mad:Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0

I'm 100% sure after my experience and that of others that Argos claim to have things in stock (particularly furniture) that they do not own. They promise to deliver and you arrange for old stuff to be taken away and then they let you down. I wouldn't buy furniture from them again unless they were the sole UK stockists of something I was really keen to have (which is unlikely).Don't grow up. Its a trap!

I had a similar experience to OP when we ordered a bed from Homebase (the same company but with a different logo). After they didn't turn up for the first booked delivery we complained and explained that my partner had taken a day off work (unpaid) to be home to accept delivery and that as they had breached the contract by failing to deliver we would have consequential losses if he had to take another day off without pay to accept the re-arranged delivery. They agreed to deliver the bed on a Saturday and also refunded the delivery fee we had paid.Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0
