postage probs

The decision on whether to purchase or not I make on the overall price. Plus other factors such as how reliable the seller appears, etc.
As a follow up to this, I've just given three stars for p&p for an item I bought. P&P was £4, for a jiffy bag and a first class (albeit "Large") stamp. I always feel bad about giving less than 5* as in real life I'm a softy, but I do think that this is the correct response.0 -
ok so they have now replied to my message, it seems i have paid for the whole £1.20 roll of brown paper! so even if they have used the whole roll on my parcel the total p+p would have been £3.40, so the cost of 'time and effort' is £1.35
"I purchased the Brown packing paper from the post office at £1.20 a metre roll, obviously being post office approved I am shocked to hear that they arrived as you described and can only apologise for this. Unfortunately this is beyond my control and a poor standard of that of the Royal Mail.
I made an estimate on postage, that with the cost of the postage and packing that this would be about £4.75. I appreciate that the total of the two have cost less than £4.00 but with time and effort included I believe this to be a reasonable amount. "0 -
That is a terrible response - you shouldn't be paying for the entire roll of paper (especially when she's probably charged all her other buyers for the whole roll as well!), and they shouldn't have been packed in paper anyway - fair enough it's technically not her fault the post man shoved it through your letter box - but then again if she'd put them in a box or bubble wrapped envelope of some sort, he probably wouldn't have been able to try!
Sellers shouldn't be 'estimating' postage when RM state their prices quite clearly on their website - I would reply once more telling her that this is not a reasonable amount. If she doesn't cooperate then leave appropriate feedback and low stars for p+p and communication.0 -

You've given the seller every chance to apologise and sort this out- now you leave appropriate stars- and frankly after that response I would be seriously considering a 2*I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Maybe I should put the whole £7.65 cost of a box of 50 jiffy bags on my postage rates. I will be in 'good' company
- even though I might not get any buyers. "Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

brown paper simply isnt up to the job for loose ites that move around.
As for the original point.
There comes a point when putting a packet through that its all or nothing.
I had it myself where a packet splits as you put it through.
I could try and catch all the stuff. take it back
bag it and bring it out the next day,but it doesnt really help the recipient0
