IB "getting" but not actually?

I'm on IS with IB not being paid but down as "receiving" it - think this is something to do with NI contributions. Is this to ensure I qualify for a full state pension?

Yes you are on IB credits and Income Support.
This means you fit the criteria for IB, you are claiming as sick and therefore unfit for work, with up to date medical certificates.
But as you have not paid enough stamps you are entitled to credits only and I.S pays the benefit.
As you are IB credits only, your NI are being credited towards your pension.
When you go over to ESA as long as you continue to be entitled you will get your credits there as well

What do you mean "when I go over to ESA" - I haven't been told about any changes.

Unless you are very close to pension age, you will eventually be moved to ESA. How can you not know of the changes - they are very well publicised?

Everyone on IB or IS for incapacity reasons is being reassesed for ESA. How have you missed that.

Incredible as it seems, there are still many IB claimants who have not yet received the initial letter detailing the changes from IB to ESA, I have a friend on IB and the first she heard of it was when she came to lunch with me at work the other day and a few of us were 'talking shop'. Came as a bit of a shock to her :rotfl:

Thank you Bazza. Telling me "how could you not know" is not very helpful. I have heard of changes (I'm on DLA and dreading the PIP etc) but have not received anything from the official bods.

dont worry, you will get plenty of warning about the change over, all IB to ESA will be completed by April 2014
