 just typed a wonderful post and the laptop lost it.....or was that me
but basically it said.....
- congrats on the job. hope all goes well!
- tell the cc you need extra time to pay before they have to call you. Always much better this way.
- any chance of an ebay marathon or a couple of car boot sales - would perhaps give you chance to pay off at least some of the due payment, even if it doesn't raise all the cash.

Congratulations on the new job, Jo :T
I can imagine that running your own business can be so satisfying, although I've never done it, if it is causing you problems you have to bite the bullet at some point.
You won't be able to smoke anywhere in a week's time anyway, so start this week in the new job with a beaming smile and fresh breath
Good Luck

Congratulations FrugalJo - sounds like a good move for you. I'd echo what hypno said about contacting the CC people and making some sort of payment, even a fiver, to show in plain form that you haven't forgotten, you're trying to be responsible.
Good luck tomorrow, hope it goes well!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Thanks guys, I'm on the move now was on treadmill and think I was standing still til I made the decision.
Loads of stuff on ebay right now, with weather as pants as it is hoping buyers will be around, but all is not well on ebay methinks (part of my business and it's been grinding to a slow halt in the last month) but personal auctions I have listed seem to have more interest. The man who removes a mountain begins by carrying away small stones. - Chinese Proverb

This is a O/T but I need tea (or something stronger) and sympathy.
As reported I started mt new job day, first day over - love it. However the start wasn't an easy one. Yesterday afternoon I was moving our old - wobbly - dining room table out to the centre of the room for dinner. Without boring you the centre of the table needs fixing. As I pushed one end collapsed, I did too the other end flew up smaking my jaw with great force.
My first thought as I lay acoss the the table top ? Where we will sit to eat now ? At the back of my mind I knew something was hurting...
Basically I started my new job with the huge purple bruise on my chin.
I know it was an ice breaker, and all my new colleagues were very sympathetic, but honestly why me ?
DH says it looks like I have a five o'clock shadow.

Your colleagues will be booking you in to a Women's Refuge.......!!:p
Glad the day went well and you enjoyed the job:cool:0 -
Just a thank you to you lot. As reported I was in trouble with a CC payment due next week. Been eating away at me this week, especially as card is near max, just phoned them explaining new job situation as suggested , and as a 'courtsey' they reset this months minimum to 0.00. I know I'll have to step up my game to catch up.
Having it dealt with it I know over a year ago I would have just missed the payment without contacting them.
Coupled with Quidco £40+ just appeared for October at last (can through that at CC) first week new job went like a dream even with big purple bruised chin.

I'm in the black hole this month, just had read through this thread again to remotivate me. Trying to clear a nasty cahoot o/d via a challenge, five days til payday and feeling a bit down. Not spent anything I shouldn't but feeling the pressure, especially with the kids off.

Hi Jo! Sorry to read that you are feeling down. Have a read of some of the threads on here to get some motivation - Keren29 is having a "back to basics August" and the usual challenges are peppered throughout.
