Breakdown cover refund

hope this is in the right place as this is my first post.

I am trying to get a refund from Kwik Fit for my breakdown cover. They incorrectly took money from mine and my partners bank account. I contacted them and said that I wanted a refund and they were quite difficult and not at all helpful. so I spoke to my bank who said they could claim it back if necessary. I spoke to Kwik fit again and managed to speak to a manager, I mentioned that my bank had said they could try to reclaim it I needed them to. The manager told me I would have the refund in 3-5 days so I said this was fine.

The next day I received a letter stating my cover was cancelled and the refund would be received in 3-5 days. Over a week later still nothing so I have rung them this morning to be told I have not got my refund as my bank were going to reclaim it. I said this was not the case as the manager had said ny refund would only take a few days. The reply I got was they cannot give me a refund as if my bank claim it back I will get the money twice. I told them i have not tried to reclaim it but they said they only have my word for that! Where do I go now? I'm at a complete loss as I really need the money.

Sorry for going on but I am completely at a loss and down know what to do next.
