Maybe not suitable for you, but the V!lib system is much fun. 1.70 € per day, then free for 30 mins at a time.
Had a lot of fun cycling between bike parking spots.

I cannot top Angelil for such fabulous information......thank you are truly our "friend in Paris".

Brioche Doree is a bakery/coffee shop offering breakfast & lunch for example, a baguette of your choice or panini, choice of pastry/cake, bottle of water and coffee 8e. There is a branch on Rue d'Rivoli.

You should be able to find places with a Formule as above, for less. Perhaps 6 euros. Perhaps without the coffee, :)

For brunch we would have a sandwich, cake and a drink(water or a Dairy maid juice) for 6 euros in Montparnasse.

I was reading through some other threads and a lot of people are taking £1000+ for pretty much the same holiday, I have £300 saved (with another £100 I could dip into), now I'm worried that's not going to be enough!

Is £300 doable for 3 and a half days?
Mum will have her own money and will possibly share expenses on my 3 yo :/

There are many places that offer Set Menus for around 15 to 20 euros. Try the Latin Quarter. £300 should be fine.
No need to eat at McDonalds....what a thing to suggest. :D

Lots of bakeries do their own €6 menus at lunchtimes, usually heavily advertised outside their door. This normally includes a sandwich, dessert and drink. As mentioned above, plenty of sit-down places also do good lunch deals (€12 or less per person I'd say, often 2 courses plus coffee or wine).

If you are on a tight budget I also wouldn't bother with the museums that cost money to get in...there are so many free ones in Paris that are of such high quality and very often quieter than the overrun touristy ones that overcharge you to go in (for some reason :p ).
