O/S Daily Thursday 2nd August. Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 1st August. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all,

Sun is shining here today, shame I shall be at work all day :D

Yesterday after work I made a huge fruit salad, including some 1/2 price blueberries from the co-op.I love blueberries but they are normally so expensive, this should keep us in puds for a few days.

Need to drop dd off at work this morning, then off to work myself, after I shall come home and put the dinner in, which will be something and chips.

Need to do a wash tonight and Mr T is delivering.

Have good days all xx

:bdaycake: And a very Happy Birthday to the lovely Pink xxxx

Morning red ruby - and all to follow.
Birthday greetings to Pink from me too!
Been raining overnight, not sure what it intends to do now, but more washing needs doing, so fingers crossed!
DH has his birthday on Sunday and I've invited a few friends round for drinks and nibbles - but am now stuck of ideas for said nibbles! Any (cheap) suggestions would be very welcome! Bank balance not too healthy just now and no more due in until Monday so timing could be better!
DS had call just as he was on his way to the station yesterday to say both flats he was due to view had been taken. Of course he'd do better to be at home in London whilst looking, but also wants to spend precious time with his DD whilst she's staying with us....
Need to go and get wool to make DGD a school cardigan today. It'll be good to have some knitting to do again and being a small garment it'll grow quickly!
Hope you all enjoy whatever you're up to today. Do take care.

    Morning all:j:j

Sunny and warm here this morning.

The twins will be back at 10:10am, At 11:10am they are off to get there eyes checked out. We are getting done before they start full time school in September, We don't think there are any sight problems.

My wife is at work this afternoon. I think that the twins are going to go off with my Mum and Dad after there eye test. But not sure yet. If they wont to stay at home with me then I will take them up the part later.

Lunch for me today will be some sort of sandwich. Dinner tonight will be chicken half's cooked on the BBQ served with oven chips and salad. If the twins are here, I will do them pizza and chips with salad as they will have to have there dinner before my wife gets home and 7:30pm.

I did that old lady's garden yesterday. It did not take too long to do. About an hour. It was the two and a half hour that i spent talking to her that took the time. She has not been out of the house for seven years. And dose not see many different people, So i was someone different for her to talk too.

Well i hope that you all have a great day.:j:j

Good luck to team GB today:T:T

  • Morning Guys!

Nurses were in quite early again this morning and OH was up at 4.30:eek::eek: catching up with work so he can finish early. Im having a naff day so far so not sure if I can move from bed, but would like to have a coffee in the garden later if I can.

Bought some bits for our few days away just get the shopping up and bought 2 chickens, thigh fillets, chops, American streaky bacon we love x 3 and lots of other bits.

OH wants to cut the grass again later and do a few other odd jobs.

    Hope everyone is keeping okay.

    It's quiet today.

Yesterday was a complete nightmare here. 13 people visiting at various times, all slightly overlapping and most requiring feeding. The only good thing was that where I was double booked one party cancelled.
I was ready for the men in white coats by the end of the day.

Today a bit quieter so have high hopes of tackling the ironing and maybe even sort out the kitchen cupboard that involves taking everything out of it to get to the stuff at the back. We'll see.

Foodwise today I'm not sure. We have one set of visitors at some point during the day but not sure if they are expecting food or not. Do hope not.

Actually had to run round to the nearest bakers yesterday to top up my bread supplies. It's ages since I bought bread. 87p for a small white loaf!!!!!!! Surely that can't be right.

Off to take some gladioli to the flower fairies in the church, delivered late last night by the man who grows them. Hope they are grateful and can turn them into some wondrous display for Sunday. They usually produce something absolutely gorgeous.

halight it is hard to believe that the twins will be going to school in September surprised-005.gif the years are flying by so quickly
I am trying to live off my store cupboard this week, I really need to run down and then restock so I only want to buy fresh stuff this week, so that should save a few pennies.
Washing on the line, only one more load to do, bread in the breadmaker. DD has made me a coffee and she and DS have decided to bake cookies today (As long as they wash up I don't mind).
Dinner tonight is the tomato and mozzarella farfalle as seen on Simply Italian. :D
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Very changable here today, some showers & some sun. DW's been emptied, WM is on & washing will go on the covered line later. Packup made, baskets watered & hubby dropped at work.
Plans for today include ironing & paid for sewing, tea tonight is steak & mushroom baguettes with chips for hubby.
    Have a good day everyone.

    Morning everyone,
Been working this morning and am off shortly for a walk in the local woods with my son in a moment. His idea of walking is more of a sprint really, so that's exercise for the day sorted. Even his carers have trouble keeping up and they are young and fit!!!
WM on, lunch is HM cornish pasty from the freezer and dinner will be leftover fridge contents cooked up together and served on pasta.
To the gentleman who did the old lady's garden......well done you. Isolation can be a huge problem for less mobile people and you will have lifted her spirits for ages by being prepared to talk to her for so long. Some of my work at the moment involves talking to people in Nursing Homes and I always try to spend a bit of time talking about whatever interests them, just because I am new face for them. Yesterday was a bonus, one resident was into knitting (ME TOO) and gave me some advice on growing potatoes. I have grown my first ever lot this year with some success, but she was able to put me straight on varieties and storage.
Hugs to anyone having a hard time and thank you for the good wishes from anyone who has sent them.
    have a good day all.
