Loud crack

I had four new tyres fitted today, alloy wheels.
I had driven around one mile on way home when there was a loud crack which seemed to come from rear near side wheel.
Straight road, nothing on the road.
I went to park my car in a safe place and walked back, done a search of the area, found nothing.
Car is a three year old Micra.
Would anyone have a clue what this loud crack could have been?

Perhaps a wheel had not seated properly. I would check tightness of all bolts and be aware of any wheel wobbles. If I was worried I might take it back to the tyre place for a quick check.
(This assumes the two are related)0 -
Was it the alloy wheel cracking? Though that would probably lead to a flat tire very quickly."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Have you checked all the wheel nuts are there? It could be that they overtightened one or more and the crack was the stud letting go.0

Could have been a few things but you do have to suspect it's related to the work you had done, hub cap or centre cap springing back into place to add a couple more to the above list.
It could simply have been some metal or other thrown up from the road.
Get it back, no genuine outfit (wasn't kwik carp I trust), would let you back out without re checking their work.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Loud crack?
Could be a dietary problem

Update on loud crack.
I went back today, the chap checked all the wheel nuts were tight, which they were.
Car driving well, however I hear little stones clicking up now and again.
Maybe yesterday the new tyres picked up a larger stone.
Anyway my mind has been put at rest knowing wheel nuts are secure.
Many thanks to all of you for your advice.
I did not use KWIK.0 -
you must still double check your wheel nuts after 50 miles for settling
you would be amazed
