British Gas offer
I have applied to change my dual fuel supplier from British Gas to EDF through one of the switching sites, and today got a call from British Gas offering me £200 off my annual bill if I come back to them. I was told I will get £100 off my bill at the first quarter and then the other £100 after one year. I am not tied in by agreeing to this so could always swap after, presumably they hope I'll forget to do this. This would better the saving I can get from EDF, and probably about equals the best saving I could get from other companies which usually have a tie in. The only thing is it isnt a fixed deal like EDF so the cost of gas could go up. I do have quite big gas bills so I dont know if anybody else has had this offer. I have agreed and have 7 days to change my mind. What should I do, any comments?

Stay with them for 3 more months and get the first £100. 2 months from now, do another comparison and see if anyone else is cheaper than BG by £100. If yes, then switch, otherwise, stay with them for the second £100. Then switch again and see if they offer you another £200 the next year.0 -
In BG's annual report a few weeks ago they suggested that they would be putting up prices in the next few months. So the quote you get now would end up be being more expensive.0
