Hello, I own a part buy/rent with my council - I have paid off my mortgage therefor own outright my half and rent the other 50%

I have gotten so confused with home insurance, the council insist I am liable for buildings but there doesnt seem to bean option for it when trawling the many compare sites.

Also having spent the last 1/2 hour reading this forum I dont know if I am even liable now??

Can anyone point me into the right direction of what insurance I need and what i put into the forms- am I owned outright or renting? I am so seriously confused!!

have you talked to a good broker, or ring the insurers direct and asked?
A lot of web sites/ comparison sites can't cover all possibilities so you need to talk directly.

If the building burnt down, You would lose everything.

If they could prove you were negligent, Could they sue you for half the value?

Thats why you need buildings cover.
