I'm getting a new kitchen and would like to install an all electric range cooker. I've had a Belling cooker for the past 14 years with no problems until the grill packed up about 12 months ago and was contemplating going for Belling again, though I've also beend looking at Stoves and Rangemaster. Has anybody had any recent experience of electric range cookers (e.g in the past 5 yrs)?

After a lot of research we went for the Rangemaster 110 Elan for our new build. Didn't fancy keeping the glass in the oven doors spotless.
To my mind if you only get the small one you might as well get a normal cooker.
The induction hob is wonderful so easy to keep clean and the heat is instantaneous.0 -
Hi
I really don't see the point of an all electric range cooker. To me the whole point of a range cooker is to have the versatility of a lot of gas burners on the hob. Ultimately the large gas or mixed fuel hob area is the best bit about a range cooker as the ovens are all fairly disappointing.
If you are looking for all electric then I think you would get far better quality and much more choice of the exact combination of ovens and hob you feel you need form having built in cooking appliances instead. Often we do a pair of ovens under the worktop and a large hob over the top if someone wants the look of a range. Depending on makes and features you want, this alternative often is a similar cost to a range cooker.
Good luck

Thanks for responses. Afraid have no choice but all electric as no gas where I am, induction does look good alternative. Not necessarily the look of a range that i'm after, just fancy an extra large oven I can batch bake bread in.0

Don't discount gas especially if just for the hob a small gas bottle will last 4-6 months.0 -
I have a Rangemaster Elan 110 dual fuel range cooker and am extremely disappointed in it. I've had it for two years now but wish I'd stuck with my all gas model which was green with brass handles but thought I wanted a more modern look. How I wish I'd stuck with it as I have a terrible problem with the electric ovens on the new Elan. They smoke really badly, so badly in fact that when you open the oven it actually stings your eyes. They tell me not to put meat in the oven without covering it first as it's the splashes from the fat from the meat that are burning. How ridiculous is that ! How do you brown your joint or get your Yorkshire Puddings to rise without putting them into a hot oven. Very, very disappointed and an expensive mistake. Looking for a new house just so we can leave the oven behind. Does anyone have a sensible answer to this problem please?0
