Ebay help

I have recently purchased some gift vouchers from a seller on Ebay. Not a great discount on retail but enough to make it worth my while.

However I do not think they are going to arrive. The seller has advertised the same gift vouchers twice since I purchased them (using the same photo) and has only been registered since January with a low feedback but 100% for selling. Another seller registered the same day as the one I have purchased from has now also started selling the same vouchers again with the same photo.

They were allegedly sent to me on the 30/07/2012 by special delivery and have not yet arrived, I have not been provided with a tracking number even though I have asked.

My concern is that I will open a dispute saying they have not arrived and then the seller will send an empty envelope and upload tracking - would this then stop me opening a SNAD?

Gift Vouchers are not in a category covered by ebay Buyer Protection even when paying through Paypal so unfortunately you would not win an eBay/Paypal case for item not received.

Gift vouchers ARE covered by Ebay buyer protection(not yet Paypal) and have been since April.
From 1 April 2012, we're expanding the number of categories covered by eBay Buyer Protection, helping to increase confidence in buying on eBay. The following categories have been added:
    • Custom made items (delivered within 45 days)
    • Airline flight tickets
    • Licences
    • Anything equivalent to cash (including retail gift cards)
    • Gift certificates
From 1 April, buyers will be able to file a case under the eBay Buyer Protection Policy for items bought in these categories on eBay,

First I have heard about these changes. Seems likely the seller doesn't know about the changes either and is trying to pull a fast one.

As Steve says, vouchers are now covered.

If the seller won't help, open an INR in EBay.

Don't close it til you have the item.

If an empty envelope arrives, then come back here and we will explain how you change the case to SNAD and send the empty envelope back.

Special Delivery is a guaranteed next day service, could he or you have meant 'recorded' - this is either first or second class only.

Thanks for the replies. I knew they were covered since the changes or I would not have bought them. I was just not sure how to deal with a claim. I can open one from tomorrow and will do so. The seller has listed and sold them again this morning - shame I can't warn others as I'm sure its a scam.
