I have my broadband through ntl and am just wondering what should appear in my network connections?
I currently have two connections showing: Local area connection and 1394 connection, is this as it should be or not?
Not sure if it seems correct to me! If it is correct what does the 1394 stand for/ mean?
Any input appreciated, thanks.

Probably not very clear on the MS article, but 1394 refers to a Firewire connector on your PC.
Whether you're using it or not it shows up as 1394 Net Adapter in Network Connections.0 -
Good stuff, just came over a bit paranoid about my connection! Thanks for clearing it up mrskint and vh0

1394 interface in your PC will be a Firewire IEEE1394 which is commonly used to connect to DV equipment like Digital Camcorders eg Sony - They call it iLink. This is how the PC 'talks' to the camera and transfers the video/audio data and controls the play, rewind, pause actions. Other devices which use firewire IEEE1394 interfaces are some external disk enclosures, Cameras etc.

Somewhere either on the front or back of your pc you will have one or more sockets that look like this. These are you Firewire 1394 ports.
