I found a buy one get 1 free voucher in the paper on selected tyres at national. Brilliant I thought, so I checked out the tyres on offer. Barum, not a bad mid range make so I decided ill have 2. I checked tyre shopper who get National to fit and im sure there the same company anyway.

http://www.tyre-shopper.co.uk/ts/search/tyredetails.aspx?code=2055516BA2V

1 Barum tyre £63, seems ok, buy 2 for 63 quid with my voucher.

So i checked the national tyre website and they are £126 each???

I can buy 1 for 63 quid but cannot buy 2 for the same price even though I have a voucher. I called them up and argued the fact that I can buy 1 for 63 quid but if i wanted 2 it would cost 126????????

does anyone get this?? if so please tell me where I am going wrong.

You can't get something for nothing.

It's a bit of marketing to get you in the door. It relies on people not checking up like you have. The deal is still valid. Buy one get one free. It's just the price of the one is the same as two

Spike Milligan had a wee sketch on this in one of his books. Asking the shop assistant how much one of something was, then asking the price for two and saying "great I'll take the other (cheaper) one"

Just goes to show that there is no such thing as free. A bit cheeky though....

I'm more concerned at the fact you are willing to fit Barum's to your car..

You'll get better grip with no tyres and by driving around on rims..

Fair enough but the reviews seem good, however it does not reter the fact that buy 1 get 1 free does not apply. You can buy 1 tyre for 63 quid but if you want 2 its 126. Loads of cobblers I can get a better tyre from my local tyres and exhaust for 66 and thats a good mid ranged tyre.

I just dont know how they get away with the ad when it simply isn't true.

    Any reason why?

Barum are often fitted to German motors as they are made by Continental.

As such you can expect midrange performance but they are far from ditchfinders.

Indeed, German review site for them http://www.test.de/Reifen-Vier-sind-mangelhaft-1653068-1654455/ marked 'Befriedigend' which is satisfactory and just a step below the big brands.

    And again http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Barum/Bravuris-2.htm

Don't go on the fact they aren't a big brand tyre and assuming they are slick fit's finest remoulds.

I had them on a C-Class Merc (they were fitted when I got it) and drove round all last winter without getting stuck.

I have just come back from a 2800 mile tour of France and Italy, with a set of Barum Bravuris 2 fitted. They saw all kinds of weather, with speeds up to just over 100MPH (I was on an economy run). They are great tyres, and endured a couple of near emergency stops on motorways (one in the wet on the Paris periphique).
I used to use Barum for cycle racing years ago, and they had great wet and dry weather grip and good reliability.

I'd be more worried about letting National Tyres anywhere near my car for anything.

Its the same marketing BS that all the TV ads use....

See this £300 laptop, I'll advertise it for 4 weeks of the year for £600, then I'll run TV adverts saying I'll give you 50% discount in a "sale" and wait for the public to think WOW what a good "sale bargin" I must buy it !!!

You see it every day on adverts.

    Twaddle.
They're budget Continentals, and they're very good for a non-premium tyre.
I had them on my BMW 328i and was impressed with their grip and longevity, and online tyre tests and reviews seem to back that opinion up.
You have to spend a lot to get the best tyres, but you don't have to spend a fortune to get good tyres.
