Credit card insurance

in Credit cards
Hi There. All quite new to this. I recently bought some air tickets (no travel insurance) with my Barclaycard. Sadly due to my partner being suddenly admitted to hospital we are no longer able to travel. The airline (BMIBABY) offer NO refunds, even though we were due to travel in 5 days time. I have never claimed for anything but constantly hear that people can automatically claim from their credit card if whatever they have bought on their credit card goes wrong, is faulty or gets stolen etc. Is this correct ? I have phoned Barclaycard (overseas helpline) and they say that they insure only fraudulent transactions. Don't quite know what to make of this anymore. Does anybody have any experience with this kind of thing ? Thanks.

Its called a section 75 and unfortunately doesnt cover what you are asking.
Leson to learn - take out travel insurance as soon as you book a holiday.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Your Barclaycard won't cover you. That's the job of travel insurance.
I understand BMI will have to refund you the 'taxes' element of the unused flights. Anything else will be goodwill, but I wouldn't hold your breath!
Next time buy travel insurance.

I suspect they won't volunteer this but will probably wait until asked. Even then they may make an "administrative charge" which could cancel out any refund.YorkshireBoy wrote: »I understand BMI will have to refund you the 'taxes' element of the unused flights.

I am unable to take my flight, how can I claim the tax back?
The only taxes we have a legal liability to refund are APD taxes. This equates to £13.00 per passenger for each UK departure point. Please note, bmibaby implement an administration fee of £26 per passenger. Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??
