Npower wont help with payment plan
Hi
can you help please. I have a large bill come into day for 7 months usage of gas and electric totalling over £1000.00 which I cant afford to pay all in one go. I use to pay by DD each month of £87.00 but had to stop my DD due to me being off ill from work and unable to pay. My first bill was for £500+ pounds and I called up and explained the situation and they said I had to pay over £170 a month and I advised I could not afford these payments and offered £130.00 which I could comfortably afford but they flatly said no and needed to be paid in full. I since have had latter for meter reading which i have sent and now have a bill for over £1000 which again you wont let me pay off each month.
I am struggling to get any help from the customer services or the customer collections and they are saying charges will be added to my bill which will put me into more debt.
I work part time have two kids and a mortgage why cant anyone help me
Thanks
Sarah Gould

Have a read through Standard Licence Condition (SLC) 27.5-27.8 regarding what they are expected to do per Ofgem.
Select the supplier .PDF off their site.

They can split the bill over longer periods if they want to, its just that it causes problems for them beyond 12 months whereby the system or staff may reset it to a full balance payment hence you having to sort it out again.
Being on a plan will also give them the option to block any switch.
You need to reassess your usage and ensure you are on the cheapest tariffs with them.
Is the bill even correct?:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -

this does not have any effect on objectionsDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0 -
If they have a debt & can't afford to pay in full then Npower will block any attempt to transfer - going on a payment plan is their only real option not a problem.
As Terrylw1 has already posted suppliers supposedly have an obligation to consider affordability of payment proposals, though Ofgem appear useless at monitoring it & Npower oblivious of following it0 -

But being on a plan and spreading a debt means you will have Outstanding Charges hence they will automatically want to block.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0
