sheds and fences. How close?

Planning on getting a new shed :D Will be putting it at the top of the garden, in a corner, with panel fence beside it.

I presume I have to leave a bit of a breathing gap between the fence and shed? so it can be treated/painted etc? How wide do you think it should be? Obviously needs enough space for access for repairs etc as well I suppose :(

I'd suggest enough space for you to squeeze in to repair and paint. 18inches unless you're a bloater.

How big is your garden? Eighteen inches is very tight for bending down between two vertical surfaces to weed or paint. Enough room to walk round comfortably is the best if you can, you can always use the gap for temporary storage if it's paved and won't get overgrown with weeds.

Garden is big enough. Am hoping to place it at the top of the garden which is about 8m wide, the actual garden is more like 10m wide, but the very end has a wee rectangle off of it 2mx 3m. I was hoping to place shed against this corner (most shaded part of garden) whilst keeping most of the top tiered section to patio/aggregate, so will be on hardstanding (we have to do this, is currently lawn)
Top section is about 10m square, minus the wee rectangle. I was thinking of allowing 50-60cm around the edges-does that sound reasonable or too snug? Shed will be 10x8 foot (sorry, I work in metric, but sheds seem to come in imperial!) Far side of this bit of garden is my raised veg beds-1.2m wide, take up the whole 10m with a few gaps between them (well they will when I shift the asparagus!)

Find something you can mock up this space with and see if you can do all the movements you would need to do to paint the fence and shed.

It doesn't sound too snug to me, 60cm is 2 feet, 45cm is the 18inches Glasgowdan is recommending. I would think you are about spot on and that would give most people enough room to paint / weed etc.
