my 21 year old son was on a driving lesson nearly 4 weeks ago with his dad
, he had bought a renault clio campus sport 4 days before for £3400 all his savings i had saved since he was born, and insured it fully comp with hastings to pay in install ments , out of nowhere a white astra turned straight in front of him causing a collision.
the police came the american tourist who caused it admitted liability my sons car was taken away and 2 weeks later we were told it was a write off . today he gets an offer £3000 they take £345 out for excess and £999 for the years insurance . he isnt gonna get a car anyway near what he had through no fault of his own it seems unfair

Did you tell Hastings that you did not want to claim on your insurance, but on the third party insurance instead? You shouldn't have to pay any excess on a no fault claim.
Also, you are getting £3000 for a car bought for £3400?? I think that's probably a fair deal, especially if the excess has come out of that amount.. Aren't you getting more than what you paid?0 -
If he paid £3400 4 days before, Hastings have to give at least £3400.
Have a good read of this.

Have a look in Auto trader etc and see how much you would have to pay for a compareable car. year, mileage etc. Cut them out (or print them) and send them to your insurer, we did this and got quite a bit more than their first offer.0

if you claiming on your insurance and the other side admits liability then eventuallyt you should get the excess back.0

White astra turned in front of him? Maybe he admitted liability but the insurer thought otherwise.
Was it a hire car? Did their insurer offer to sort ot out for you, Or have you just left it to your insurance.
If its your insurer then until the claims settled you probably wont get the excess back.
Contact their insurer direct and see if you can deal directly. But only do this if they agree it was their parties fault 100%.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
