Hi,
I have this growing at the back of my border. It is upright. I did plant a rose nearby a couple of years ago, but it died, so not sure if it is one? The leaves seem smaller than a bramble though.

You'll likely get flowers next year0

Has it got strong stems at the base - otherwise I might think it is a dog rose, ie one that has reverted to the wildYou never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0

I will look later. Does that make it bad? I like wild roses0

does not make it bad
I can't quite make out the number of leaflets on your picture, a general guide [not Gospel] is 5 leaflets per leaf are cultivated, 7 or more leaflets are normally wild
However until it has flowered you will not know if it is gorgeous & a future Chelsea winner, or just a dog rose pooed out by a bird
If you have space just watch it grow & enjoy itWhen an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray0
