Hope you don't mind....

Good day you wonderful lot :)

In a bid to organise my life, I will be hanging out on this thread along with coupon thread, Elite and a few others, that's if you don't mind as juggling life is proving difficult, get quite emotional about it, and with my work increasing next month I have to get organised whilst I can!

To start with I'm tackling a few jobs at a time, and a couple of niggles!

So..I have a few questions and think you are the peeps to offer advice...

1. I have a Tefal pro express steam iron, on the iron itself after ironing at the wrong temperature gained a considerable amount of black (i assume) burnt nylon or something similar. Do you have advice on cleaning this without damaging the irons glide base?

2. My partner works as a Martal art instructor in the evenings and I'm having a job, even after washing getting 'that odour':o from his clothes, and I'd like to try something to freshen his clothes, any ideas?

3. Having recently acquired a carpet cleaner, which came with a small sample of solution, I'd like to use something more cost effective instead of purchasing more overpriced carpet cleaning solution. It has to be low foam, otherwise could turn into a comedy sketch!

Do you have any ideas to help?

Also I tried flying many years ago, and it worked well but I was a full time SAH mum, now working nearly full time (term time only) and studying with two teenagers and a 2 year old, I'm struggling.

I have an old fly lady style folder I'd made up which I should probably use and update to my new life, what do you think? I thought to myself I could work in half terms IYKWIM! Rather than how am I going to cope over the year, then it's roughly 6 weeks at a time, then half term to gather myself before the next onslaught!

TIA and hope you don't mind me seeking help :o

    Hi barksavingmad,

This thread should help with the iron:

    sole plate of iron (cleaning)

This thread should help with the laundry:

How do I get the smell of sweat out of clothes!

And these threads may help with the carpet cleaning:

    carpet vax what shampoo?

Carpet cleaning with a Rug Doctor

    carpet cleaning

There are numerous threads to help with cleaning/decluttering if you search through this board.

Good luck with reaching your goals.

Ah Pink-Winged, you really are a searching genius :rotfl::T
Can't think of anything smart to put here...
  • Well great results with the iron, unfortunately it seems some of the protective glide has been lost, but I don't think that was from today's treatment, a combo of salt and soap :T

I've realised I need bio powder and start using white vinegar again, just keep the non bio for the toddler ;)

And tomorrow I am visiting Asda for Stardrops, 20 mile round trip BUT thankfully I'm going that way anyway.

    Thank you once again :D
