Kwik-fit and phone calls.

Options
So, you take your new car insurance policy out with kwik-fit, tick all the boxes so they can't contact you, and immediately they start calling you, daily, offering to sell you things.

On complaining they send out an email, and I'll quote

I am sorry you are unhappy with the calls you were receiving after you had arranged your insurance with us. I understand you requested you did not want to be sent details of any special offers. Unfortunately, this does not mean we would not try to contact you be telephone to offer you additional cover that we feel may be a benefit to you.

Sorry, but NO CONTACT, means NO CONTACT. Don't phone me daily to try and flog me stuff I do not want. And yes, it does mean I don't want you to contact me to sell me additional insurance or anything else.

My advice to prospective customers to any of kwik-fit services, use a fake telephone number, also BEWARE OF AUTO-RENEWAL

Doesn't surprise me to hear this.

I've never taken out car insurance with them, although I did receive a couple of calls after having had some work done at my local branch, trying to flog me insurance in a rather crafty & underhand way.

We insured through them once(never again) as they were cheap. The next year the amount went up absurdly so we moved. They still insisted on ringing from time to time and especially at the next point a renewal might have been due.
Overall they were experts at losing customers and making sure they didn't get them to return.

Following some very basic work at their local branch, they phoned me to complete a customer satisfaction survey ... oh, and whilst I just happened to be on the phone, was I interested in car insurance? Spot the REAL reason for the call!

This was followed up with another call a few weeks later:
KF: "I believe that your car insurance is up for renewal next month"
    Me: "No!"
KF: "Well when is it then?"

Of course they had absolutely no idea when, but they were working on the basis that even if their 1-in-12 punt was incorrect then they could at least find out the correct date. Needless to say, I refused to tell them! ... and their local branch lost my custom going forward.

The last time I asked quik fit for an exhaust quote they insisted on having my name and other details before quoting me. They didn't get them, but Mr Jimi Hendrix may have had a few phone calls.

    Have you registered with TPS?

If so and you are receiving unsolicited calls you can complain

    http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/index.html

If you have specifically told a company that they cannot contact you by phone for marketing purposes they may be breaking the law by doing so and hey can be fined for doing so.

Have a look here for further info http://www.ico.gov.uk/

TPS doesn't cover companies that you have dealt with.

ICO is useless in these circumstances although I always complain to them in regards to breaches of DPA. However, they have bigger fish to fry.

Its more beneficial to tie them up with complaints, as that costs them time and money to deal with, and I can tie them up in knots sometimes.
