Sme files?

Hi i am trying to open some text messages on my pc that i have downloaded from my samsung phone and i am being told i need an "sme file
Can anyone advise what is going on
please.

Your message doesn't really make sense to me. I doubt that the message said "you need an sme file". Does the file you downloaded has an *.sme extension? Then it might be this

I guess you need the software which came with your phone to open it if it is possible at all.

How did you download the file and how do you know that it contains text messages?

I just googled "samsung phone sme file" (did you try this first?) and the third hit was this
