lack of ID/proof of address

A mate of mine has finally been offered a new job, but needs to have his own bank account before he can start. Because all the benefits he's been receiving have been going into his missus's account, and before that he was in prison, he's not got an active account. Now the problem with opening a new account is that he hasn't got anything as a proof of address. They get no gas/electric bills as it's all PAYG on a meter, and his name is not on their tenancy agreement as his missus signed it all when he was in prison. Could anyone suggest what he might be able to use as a proof of address, or how to get around this problem?

Cheers

No driving licence, No passport, No prison card?

Maybe get something from the doctor, surely his benefits are in his name a letter from DWP would do the job.

    DWP letter

    &

Prison card should be good enough.

Think he's got a passport and that, just the proof of address he hasn't got. Basically he's not been claiming benefits as it apparently would reduce what his missus gets (they've got two kids and they struggle)

Missus hasn't told benefits or council tax that boyfriend is leaving there! Probably won't tell them about his new wages either! Need I say more!

The employer will have no way of checking whos bank account it is, fairly comfortable in saying he isnt going to be working for the bank, and so he could simply give them his misses account details and have his pay put in there.

Once he gets his proof of address by adding himself to the tenancy agreement etc he can then get a bank account and just inform the employers that hes got a new account now and to use it going forward

I'm not entirely sure how it works, but I assume they claim together.

To be honest that's most likely due to me not knowing the actual situation rather than anything dodgy.
