Youre doing amazingly well considering you have to do it all by yourself ! Does your OH contribute to the household costs at all ?
Keep it up, Youll get there eventually, and there will be room for a disco in DDs room ! :)

Thanks :) Although not sure I'd that keen on her having a disco, maybe just a CD player... :rotfl:

OH does contribute to costs but probably not as much as he should, although I am stricter with him now about paying his way. It's complicated.

Feeling a bit better today so may tackle my new SOA at some point.

Hi, at home with a horrid cough, idly leafing through MSE and recognised your name, we bump into each other on No more toiletries thread. Just thought I would say hello and offer a bit of moral support, keep plodding away, they say Rome wasn't built in a day, it would be great if your OH was completely on board with what you are trying to do, but lots of people around here seem to have to carry the lion's share of the budgeting and debt-busting and I am sure that like them you will succeed too. You have already done so well managing to study, work, bring up your little one etc, you will get there.:A

Hi Maddie :) and thanks for the kind words. It's all very hard and seems like a long dark tunnel.

On the plus side, I am raising my income slightly by doing Textbroker articles (when I can fit them in between work, study and family/house life), and I thought the extra income would really help but it doesn't seem to have made the impact I thought it would. Selling things on eBay helps a little but the input is far more than the reward.

I'm doing a big sale of DD's baby clothes next month so hoping to clear both clutter and get come cash back. Fingers crossed.

I see from what others post that e-bay is a hard slog, but I guess if you can get your head around it and squeeze the time from somewhere, the beneft is two fold a) a few pennies/pounds towards your goal and b) another item out of the house, which might feel easier to get rid if someone else is going to use the item. Good luck with the sale of DD's baby clothes, I am sure they will be welcomed in their new homes.

I will drop in and say hello now and then, if that's all right.

That would be lovely :) I need to post here more often, I just get a bit demoralised as I feel guilty for not doing better.

Hope your cough clears off and you feel better soon!

Took a look at my bank account today - currently £648.33 into my overdraft, which isn't too bad at this time of the month. It will go a lot higher than that by payday, however. I've just recieved £300 of money from Textbroker, which is great.

Interestingly, the interest I paid on my current account was £18.90 last month. My annual statement (Sept 2011-Sept 2012) says I paid £274.23 in charges alone in that period! All of it overdraft charges! Very depressing.

I had a letter from Barclays today, not had one like this ever so I'm taking the time to read it carefully. They're offering me the option to transfer up to 90% of my available credit limit on my credit card to my current account for only a 0.90% fee. Sounds good, but only a 0% interest rate until 1 June.

Now, I have £1,600 still to pay off my credit card which is 0% until November. This is fine as I pay off £200 a month so that will be done in time.

In order to get my current account back into the black, I think I need £1.5k. There's no way I'll get that paid off by 1st June so I need to work out how much it will cost me in interest after that date (16.9% interest rate on my credit card) and whether or not this will be cheaper than battling through with things as they are.

I'm unsure and undecided, maths isn't my strongpoint. If anybody is reading this I'd appreciate some advice.

Sorry, not much help from here either but, hopefully someone who enjoys number crunching will happen by soon.
