PC freeze

Hi - can anyone help

My pc had started to slow down and freeze from time to time. I have run
AVG 7.5
Webroot sypweeper
CCleaner
Easy Cleaner
RegistryFix
A-squared (free)

I have also ran Mcafee freescan etc. Having cleaned out cookies, duplicate files, temp files and two trojans the PC is rinning much faster but still freezes.
This happens about once per 3 hour session and typically during visits to youtube, liveleak etc.

Having checked event viewer it showed the folowing errors
"database recovery /restore failed with unexpected error - 551"

When I link to the microsft site the details are as follows :

Explanation
The ESENT storage engine could not automatically recover data when the system stopped responding or the power failed. As a result, database data is now unavailable.

Typically, this error occurs because an anti-virus program is actively scanning ESENT files.


User Action
Do one or all of the following:

Verify that anti-virus software is not actively scanning ESENT files.
Restart the database program to see whether the error occurs again. If it does, and a database backup is available, restore the database data from the backup. Otherwise run a program-specific utility, such as Esentutl.exe or Ntdsutil.exe, to repair the data.

How does one check AVG to see if it checking essent files etc. Not much of a PC techie so can anyone help.

You must still be in Safe Mode with so few processes. Reboot in normal mode and put HijackThis.exe in its own folder (e.g. on the Desktop) and run it from there, otherwise you won't be able to restore any changes it makes.

install and run 1-click maintenance a few times until it produces no errors

if it still crashes then open the PC case and ensure all the ventilation holes, processor fins etc are clear of dust by blowing them clean, while it is open also (after earthing yourself to the chassis) reseat the ram strips and any graphics cards.

Have downloaded tuneup-utilities and it found over 250 errors/issues. All cleaned now.

I also opened the case and cleaned the internals and checked the memory & cards were seated. Everything was caked in dust as I am part way through renovating my house.

Thanks for your help - it appears faster/slicker already. Will post again if probs continue but for now cheers.
