structural bear market
Vs cash in a world with positive GDP ?
If every home in China actually wired up to have electricity it would wipe out world copper stocks.
We got gigantic underlying demand, I can only assume you think they will strip the copper from western homes to send abroad as we can no longer afford energy costs anyway and need the food.
Somewhere there is a balance and its likely commodity prices will rise certainly in nominal terms and I think value growth well possible even if the west is dire. Its more likely we'll adjust not collapse here and for business its more efficient to dig copper up
Oh dear, not great
Like where he is going ? XTA fell today, dont think any of these is booming0 -

As I don't want to be holding too much bonds, personally I am planning to be rotating to relatively low volatility funds such as Standard Life GARS, CF Miton SS and part cash tbh - but the timing etc is still under review. I have rotated about 5-6% at the end of last week and will monitor as the year moves on but my preference is that I complete by April on certain holdings and summer on others.
I consider it as important to protect profits as it is to be aggressive when appropriate. This doesn't sit well with a lot of people who prefer to stay invested through thick and thin which also has its place depending on the individuals' knowledge/interest/experience of these things.
all imho

Well, I am not sure what your point is but the current bear cycle since 2000 has had huge volatility and excellent opportunities to make (and lose) money - unless one stayed invested in a FTSE tracker or similar for all that time of course.
I am rarely in cash to be honest, but there are periods where I am unashamedly in cash and glad to be so!:)
Good luck in any case....

Might be worth a read. All subjective and personal opinions, but when I saw it I thought of this post so it may be of use to someone?0
