Champagne Washbasin - Epilogue!

This is an update to Bathroom Disaster thread posted a couple of weeks ago.......

I emailed three companies who specialize in discontinued coloured bathroom fittings but only one bothered to reply and I was quoted £280 plus £32.50 delivery  - it would be just as cheap to rip the whole lot out and start again with a new white suite.

Anyway OH was talking to a nice lady in a builders merchants and she checked their database and said they had two champagne washbasins - not locally, nationally. She said leave it with her for a couple of days and she would get back to him. Turned out that one was broken, but the other was alright and so she had requested that it be delivered to their branch. When he asked about the price she said it had been in stock for so many years that obviously nobody wanted it and so she would sell it to him as obsolete stock for a mere £22 + VAT. What a relief!

He picked it up on Friday - so all is well, unless of course he breaks it when putting it in!!!!:T The last champagne washbasin in the country!!!!
Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time

  • Bargain! Well Done!

Better than ripping the whole lot out and starting again since then it wouldn't just be the suite, but the tiles, flooring, taps, wall coverings etc etc etc etc.

Isn't champagne rather pricey to wash with?

there are still companies making some old colours, i think champagne included as a standard if not exactly common item. We can still get many old colours on an extended lead time but no problem. there is also some suppliers of old and discontinued colours too, do not dispair old colours are available
