Line of attack- PPC signs are actually adverts, so we can complain to the ASA

Any signs put up by PPCs are legally classified as adverts and as such they need to be legal, decent, honest etc as per ASA guidelines.

ASA is the Advertising Standards Authority, and they are typically as much use as a chocolate fireguard [slight exaggeration] but lots of their rulings do make it into the press as it's easy copy for the papers.

I can't be ar5ed doing it, but I'm sure some on here will take it on.

Let us know how it goes.

What's the point of suggesting doing something if you can't be bothered to do it yourself....
    For everthing else there's mastercard.
    For clampers there's Barclaycard.

Are you sitting up straight?? Pay attention. Basic economic model explanation follows....

There are people on here who despise the PPCs [and I mean really hate] and so will do almost anything to cause them 'pain' [regardless of the effort involved].

I personally can't be bothered with complaining to the ASA as it fails on a cost-benefit analysis; but I'm sure some of the PPC-haters will [as their cost-benefit calculation will be different to mine]...

They may be classed as adverts as far as planning permission goes. However they are not advertising anything, they are simply conveying information, bit like a mind your head sign!

Cant see the ASA being interested unless they advertised two bays for the price of one and then charged you for both! :D

I'm all for causing pain for the PPCs, but I honestly think it's a waste of time and effort trying to get the ASA involved, this is too far outside the issues they deal with on a daily basis.

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.

Phew!, calm down Oopsy. Relax, we all know that you could run this DG singlehandedly if we all left. Nobody tells the punters the way it is like you. I like it. Keep coming up with the ideas! :)
