O/S Daily Weds 1st Aug Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 1st August. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Dull, overcast and cloudy, although feels warmer than yesterday morning. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock.
Dinner last night was roast chicken and chips for DH and I had roast chicken with jacket potato and side salad. Managed to get the small pile of ironing done when I got home from work yesterday - some of those items will be being packed today for our hols. Got majority of the paperwork printed and information packs put together and I've run out of computer paper - printed had a bit of a glitch (think it was protesting over the workload tbh!) so several sheets have been wasted, but not much left to do, will buy more paper this morning and get that done later. After work I have a list of jobs that need doing - bank, small shop, packing, if I get time, quick round of housework - but it's not too bad - so that's not urgent. When DH gets in tonight we will get the roof box packed, car packed, get something to eat - he will get too bed early as he's driving, I'll keep going until I'm happy everything is ready - once we're on our way I get to sleep in the car. Spoke to our friends in Scotland again last night and they are all set so we'll be meeting them at the site on Friday - can't believe after all the planning and hardwork it's nearly here, bit scared though in case anything goes wrong/doesn't work out - but will just have to do the best we can - I've booked everything and done a reminder 6 weeks ago, paid deposits, and have tickets etc so hoping everything should go ok!!!
Work was really quiet yesterday morning, (was continuous rain here all morning), then became much busier in the afternoon - today will be busy though as it's the 1st of the month.
Don't think I'll get on any more now as we're off at stupid early in the morning, so be good everyone, if you can't be good, be careful! If the sun shines remember the suncream.
Have a good day, stay safe and well x

Have a wonderful trip nmlc, sounds like you have done all the organising well in advance!
I have a GP appointment this morning then on to work. When I get back from that I hope to be able to do a bit of gardening, but if the weather is against me, it'll be house work.
The Housing Association has now inspected the house we would like to rent for my son and don't forsee any problems, so that's another box ticked. My son is calm and happy despite another major incident with one of his housemates. Luckily my son was out and didn't witness this one. The last one he did witness and he tried to rescue the member of staff being targetted. It upset my son for a very long time. And me to be honest.
SAdly this latest incident has resulted in a member of staff going on long-term sick. Her injuries were very nasty and the trauma was severe. She is a brave, strong woman with a wealth of experience in the challenging behaviour field and it breaks my heart that she is suffering like this.'Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.' T S Eliot0 -
Morning all, hope Nmlc has a super holiday. Bit grey here but sun is struggling to get through. Off to Cardiff soon as DD needs make up for being a bridesmaid on Friday and it's the nearest place to gett he brand she needs. Have to pick up my dress and try to find a fascinator and then we're going to treat ourselves to lunch, not very OS but all the family needs cheering up at the moment.
Hugs to all in need, hope you are OK Lou. Have a good day all.:)£180.00 in 'sistercas'fund
Hope is like the sun, which, as we journey toward it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us.

Good morning mnlc and all,
i was up bright and early this morning. Ive stripped my bed and the bedding is in the washer already.
Son helped me clean on top of the wardrobes yesterday. Ok, i'll admit it he cleaned them for me and i held the ladder. I am useless up a pair of step ladders even ones that aint very high. I'm afraid to say they were pretty grim and i was debating whether just to chuck the cloths afterwards instead of washing them. Sense prevailed though.
Found out my Auntie took a nasty fall 3 weeks ago and is now recovering in a residential home. She tripped on a mat just outside the bathroom. Mats are lethal things when your not good on your feet. I am hoping to go and see her at some point over the next few days.
Good to report the tablets the doc gave me have caused no major side effects (ie i havent yet fallen asleep eating my dinner). Its too soon to say whether they will lower my BP though.
I need to chase the college my son is going to in September (subject to his GCSE results). They have sent him 2 enrolment appointments. The first one is before he gets his GCSE results which is a bit pointless really.
I might ask my son to clean the windows today (the windows i cant reach anyway). I'll clean the ones i can reach without breaking my neck.
Missed Holby City last night. I was too busy chatting to friends i was at school with on Facebook. So sad to hear that we lost 2 of them due to drink/drug related illnesses. I had troubled sleep because of it. I have got the house to myself today so i will hopefully catch up with Holby City on iPlayer.
Hope you have a good day all (or a dry one at least). This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Morning All,
Sunny in Hastings this morning.:T Had my nails and eyebrows done yesterday, feel better about myself now:T
Had beans on toast for dinner last night, wasn't very hungry. Tonight I have used up an onion, pepper, garlic mushrooms and chicken, combined it with half a tin of spaghetti, put it in a dish with cheese on it, and it's a sort of pasta bake!:rotfl:
Post office later, and a friend coming for coffee. Felt really tired yesterday, and no one gave me a seat on the bus, despite the fact that it was obvious I needed one:mad:
Still, most of the tme people are okay.
Nmic have a great trip!
judi I have been on two different BP tablets lately, the second lot are much better.
(((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))) if you need them.I Believe in saving money!!!:T

Morning All! Seems lovely here at the moment, so washing will be out fairly soon. Friends coming for lunch today so was early at Mr T's and need to whizz round with the cleaning stuff shortly.
nmlc, hope your trip goes really well!
nij520, hope the accommodation turns out to be OK as you will feel happier knowing it's sorted. DH had call from estate agent yesterday so is back up to London this morning for a viewing. Really hope it's fine and not too far from his ex and DGD.
Hilstep, sorry no-one offered you a seat - but as you say mostly people do do this. I've been pleasantly surprised at people's behaviour on both buses and underground lately.
oh well, best get a shift on! Hope you all have a good day - and ((HUGS)) to all who need one today. Take care.Resolution:

Morning all,:j:j
Dry and warm here,
My wife has gone to work. And I'm on my 3rd coffee of the day.
Lunch for me today will be salad. With some cheese and corned beef.
I'm Tidying an old lady's front Garden up this morning. She lives down the bottom of the road, The Front Garden is not very big but it is quit over grown with brambles, She Has asked me to cut them all down and tidy it up a bit. She is worried as she has carers and nurses in every day and she dose not wont any of them to hurt themselves on it.
So that's my day planned.
I'm not sure what we will be having for dinner tonight.
I'm got some lambs neck. i had it off the market yesterday. So I might roast that for dinner.
Have a great day everyone:j:j:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -
judi I have been on two different BP tablets lately, the second lot are much better.
its trial and error i am afraid with bp tablets. I was on two tablets for years which worked a treat and lowered my bp as they should but then i had problems with my ankles and knees swelling.... so then i was put on a water tablet which was ok for a time, the swelling in my legs went down but my bp stayed high. Its still trial and error to find a combination that suit me i am afraid.
I'll get there i'm sure! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

nlj sounds nasty good job your son won't have to live with that boy anymore
nmlc enjoy your hols
Waiting for citylink to pick up some parcels today so I'm reluctant to start doing anything like an exercise dvd or a bath until they've been. Bet they turn up at 5pm now
Have given the kitchen a quick clean, will put a wash on when the cheap electric kicks in. Need to pack for home and will have a quick tidy up. Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
Morning all
Hope everyone is well
Adelight thankyou so much for your help and finding that boad for me. have sent off for loads of freebies so cant wait for postie now
:j
Lou hope you are ok. dont think I have seen any posts from you yesterday.
Didnt sleep well last night. kept trying but couldnt fall asleep so gonna try and have a nap in a minute. Dinner last night was pasta with some LO pesto, cheese and HM garlic bread and then some HM VERY boozy bread pudding made from some Y/S all butter croissants I got (only 18p for 12) and some irish cream in the back of a cupboard. I dont drink much so if i can cook with it then it will save on some other ingredients.
today its gonna be what ever I have going off in the fridge for lunch and pasta and pesto for again for dinner.
Need to find my sat nag out for tomorrow as im going for training at another school and dont know my way there Also need to do some washing up and hang up the washing from the WM (I put it on overnight to save on electric as its a lower rate) and then just a general tidy me thinks.
I love having mornings with no drama. Have a good day everyone and hugs to those that need them
