Direct debit error

Good morning guys
Today I woke up to see sky has taken a direct debit for 200 when it's only ment to be 15 which it's been every other time I only have the basic package which I have a friends and family discount on my question is can I claim back this direct debit from the bank? They didn't tell me it was going to be 200 so I was shocked to see my account -66 when I woke up. My problem now is if I have to wait for sky to refund me this it could take a while in which I don't get paid for another week and a bit and have no money left now to get to work eat etc.
Thanks in advance

Tell your bank, they should put it back immediately under the direct debit guarantee.0

Thanks is that all I have to say?0

Just tell them exactly what you told us, the dd is incorrect, should have been 15 and you were not notified of the 200. They will cancel the transaction, and then sky will have to resubmit to take the correct amount. If the 200 is correct, e.g. You had changed service with them, sky would write to you to tell you what charge will be taken and would then resubmit.
You should also contact sky to dispute, but at least the money will be back with you while you do0 -
Thank you will do this soon as the open at 7am do you have any idea how long Barclays take to refund the payment I'm guessing it won't have left the bank yet as it was only processed at 4am0

You're welcome. I've edited the post above to include a link to the BACS rules, in case that helps0
