Buyer asking me to clear blocked drain

Hi - my buyer has had their full survey done and has noted that the drain is blocked and has asked for us to clear it as there is a chance it could be a collapsed drain. Is this usual practice?

I would consider this a reasonable request. You can of course say no, but it may impact on the sale. If you do refuse your buyer may well ask themselves what you are trying to hide, and renegotiate on the basis that they need new drains laying.0

Seems like a reasonable request to me."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Even if you weren't selling, would you leave it blocked?
Why would you be reticent about unblocking it whilst you're still in residence? Wouldn't you want it unblocked?0 -
yes you should clear it, if you were remaining there you'd clear it and it's only reasonable that you ensure the good order of the property before you sell it.0

presumably you'd held off paying to have it done because you are moving - and you'd hoped to get away with it
But you've been caught out now, so you probably need to keep the buyer sweet by sorting it out. It won't cost too much if it is just blocked.0 -
Get some rods and fix it yourself -= its easy and keep rods for new place! Dyno Rod and such can cost a small fortune to rectify what is often a simple issue
Either way don't leave it, it may be affecting neighbours as well as drains are usually linked0 -
It's your poo! would you really expect the buyers to have to clear it?0

I'm being completely honest when I say I had no idea it was blocked! There's been no smells...and I have a very sensitive nose. Will get it sorted.0
