I've changed all my light bulbs from CFL to LED and couldn't be happier.
I have a total of 53 lights in my house - so changing over wasn't cheap, but a long term investment.
I tried a few different brands of GU10 LED lights before settling on a 6 watt device with 3 LEDs and a 60 degree angle. Seems to put out more or less the same light as a 50 watt halogen and the colour temp is pretty pleasing as well. Had them running for 6 months now, no failures and a marked drop in my electricity bill !

I don't suppose I could trouble you to provide the brand/link to product if possible? I'd like to change my kitchen bulbs to LED (the flipping halogen things blow every five minutes anyway) and the only ones I've seen are too bulky for the light fittings I have.

I bought them from Amazon - as a new user I'm not allowed to post a link - but here are the product details to help you find it on Amazon

    EDISON 6W Led GU10 Bulb 3x2W = 6w, Warm White
    (Beats 3w and 4w LED GU10 and CFL Fluorescent Energy-Saving GU10 Lamps)

They are the same size as a regular halogen and seem to fit nicely.

Suggest you buy a couple first to make sure you like them and that they fit your sockets ok.

I also had problems with the halogen blowing all the time in the kitchen where I have about 12 of them - no more problems since switching over to LED - but they're not cheap at £8.99 each.

Note - I have no commercial interest in these bulbs :-)
  • Thanks timdf911. I have 6 halogens and replace the whole lot at least once a year so it'll be financially more viable anyway.
