What's Happened to Smooth Site Operation?

I've noticed in the last week or so that in accessing the MSE site and especially the forums, I am getting more and more frequent browser lockups and delays while all kinds of addresses are apparently being accessed in the bottom (Firefox) toolbar. Seems to be a vast amount of user tracking going on and no doubt cookies being dumped all over the place.
Is anyone else noticing this? Could it be related to the sale of the site to moneysupermarket.com ?
