Hi,
I was wondering if the Blackwell tunnel is open for normal operation tomorrow (1st aug) if not, will the route to/from Shooters Hill to the Woolwich ferry be available? I'm pretty sure some Olympic works are going on in Greenwich.
Thanks!

You know Westfield carpark is shut?
Good route, Tower Bridge us a nightmare, although The Highway is fine once you can get on it0 -

I'm not actually going to Westfield car park, but I will be heading towards the centre to meet sombody at the Morrisons car park.
My plan was to go down Shooters Hill, turn onto the south circular, jump onto the Woolwich ferry onto the A403 and then turn off onto Romford road.
Good idea?0 -
If you can avoid driving around that area I would.
They have set it up so the Olympic Vehicles can driver along their lanes unimpeded. They don't care about the rest of the traffic, traffic lights are phased so they stay on much much longer for the games traffic, very few left or right turns allowed etc etc. In certain areas, there are only a few entrances onto main roads so there's severe congestion in these areas.
It took me 45 minutes to get over Tower Bridge yesterday.0 -

The Olympics are in Greenwich Park - you will have seen them as you crossed Blackheath.
Shooters Hill - Charlton - Ferry - Prince Regent will work but it'll get sticky the closer you get to Stratford from any direction.
You could also try A2 towards Deptford then Rotherhithe Tunnel and along the A13 through Limehouse to join the A12 just north of Blackwall Tunnel.
Next time you do it - listen to the traffic reports on BBC London 94.9 when you set off. If they tell you Blackwall has problems; then people will have diverted to the Ferry so try Rotherhithe. If they tell you the Ferry has problems - take a book as you may be waiting 45 to 55 minutes to cross. If they tell you any 2 of these 3 have problems - give up:( or be prepared to spend 2 hours on the journey.I need to think of something new here...0
